The Ugly Reloading Headspace and Bullet Comparator Kit

Headspace Comparator:

Different bushing sizes (depending on cartridge family) insert into the Comparator Body, which attaches to a caliper. This handloader can then measure the changes between fired and sized brass. this enables the handloader to adjust his sizing dies for a proper fit in his chamber. When a handloader oversizes his cases it can cause excessive headspace problems, one of which is to shorten the life of the brass.

This set will allow the user to measure brass from the case head to the datum line on the case shoulder. Five bushing sizes allow you to measure the headspace on most bottleneck cartridges from 17 Remington through the belted magnums.

Headspace Bushings included are as follows: A.330″, B.350″, C.375″, D.400″, E.420″

Bullet Comparator:

Measuring cartridge lengths across bullet tips is not a reliable or repeatable method for measuring your loaded rounds. It’s common for variations of up to .025″ to exist from one round to the next. This Bullet Comparator solves that problem by measuring rounds from a reliable surface on the bullet, the ogive, to provide consistent, precise measurements of your rounds. The Bullet Comparator is also used to check uniformity of bullets from base to ogive.

The Bullet Comparator easily attaches to the blade of your caliper with a thumbscrew and uses interchangeable inserts to measure from the bullet ogive.

Includes comparator body and 14 bullet inserts for bullet diameters: .172″, .204″, .224″ (5.56mm), .243″ (6mm), .257″, .264″ (6.5mm), .277″, .284″ (7mm), .308″ (7.62mm), .338″, .358″, .375″, .416″ and .458″

Bushing holding body: 303 Stainless steel

Headspace & bullet comparator bushings: 6061 Aircraft grade aluminum alloy.   Surface color-coded and hard anodized with a ceramic-like wear-resistant surface.

Compatible caliper jaw thickness: ≤4.70mm
