The story of the TAC21 Chassis, is also the story of the creation of what is now MDT.
Our first rifle chassis, the TAC21 was designed and developed by Laszlo Klementis, MDT’s founder. Laszlo was a machinist by trade, with a passion for competitive shooting.
After a couple of years on hiatus from shooting, Laszlo decided to get back into the sport, and was in the market comparing options for his next precision rifle chassis or stock. At this time, back in 2008-9, there weren’t nearly as many options for people as there are now, and affordability was a real issue, so Laszlo began to draw up and create his own version of his ideal rifle chassis.
On his 17th rendition of what is now the TAC21, Laszlo attempted to get a prototype made, quickly realizing that the current design was much too costly to become a reality. He went back to the drawing board, now working backwards with materials and costs at the forefront of his mind. On version 21, the prototype was completed and the MDT TAC”21” (21st rendition) Chassis became a reality, and the rest is history.
Since then, the TAC21 is onto a Gen2 version, with an M-LOK compatible forend, an ambidextrous magazine latch, a more secure and adjustable locking end cap, and a slightly more aggressive barricade stop.
The TAC 21 is a fixed buttstock interface, so is compatible with buttstocks such as the MDT SRS V5, SRS Lite (sold separately)
PLEASE NOTE: FIREARMS FITTED WITH READILY DETACHABLE STOCKS ARE PROHIBITED IN NSW, ACT and WA. THE TAC21 TOOL-LESS END CAP REMOVAL MECHANISM MAKES THIS READILY DETACHABLE. ANY ORDERS PLACED FROM A NSW/ACT/WA ADDRESS FOR THIS PRODUCT WILL BE CANCELLED.
ATP NOTE: We will be working on a modification/accessory that requires a tool to remove the buttstock end cap so that this chassis can be used in jurisdictions where readily removable stocks are prohibited. This will be released in 2024.
Select your rifle variant from the drop down list. SA is Short Action, LA is Long Action. RH is for Right Handed, LH is for Left Handed.
NOTE: This listing is for the Chassis body/base, chassis endcap and forend ONLY. Does not come with buttstock, grip, magazine, or any of the other accessories in photos.

STRAIGHT-LINE DESIGN
The MDT TAC21 GEN2 Chassis was designed so that your barrelled action sits right in the middle of the core so the recoil goes straight back into the buttstock, resulting in reduced felt recoil and enabling you to quickly get back on target.

IMPORTANT NOTES
HOWA 1500 / WEATHERBY VANGUARD SHORT ACTIONS
This is the only action that we manufacture a chassis for that has a flat bottom action, so does not sit in a V-Block. For this reason, only MDT Polymer magazines and MDT Poly Metal magazines will work. The fitting may need to be modified slightly for proper feeding. For .223 models the bolt stop may be too long. This can easily be modified by removing the bolt stop and trimming the contact face.
